I've found that I get more impact out of dramatic, emotional anime when I marathon it beginning to end so I can experience the emotional roller coaster all at once rather than having it sit for awhile and lose its impact. Because of that I decided to try marathoning a 12-13 episode series each weekend.
I started today with True Tears and it went really well so I'm looking for more emotionally impactful anime like that to watch on a Sunday afternoon.
Romance is optional but preferred, an emotional connection to the characters is a must. I find the shows I enjoy most are the ones with characters i like and feel connected to.
