Anime about Mid-range Revenge ?

Sorry for that title, but i dont realy have any other idea on how to express what im looking for.
Usually Anime are big on Characters who forgive pretty much anything, can you think of any Anime where the MC doesnt forgive someone for what they´ve done ?
What im specifically looking for is not the small time stuff like ratting you to the Teacher or stealing a Muffin, nor is it looking for the Person that killed your Family.
Its the things you see often in more serious Shonen Anime, the guy who betrays you because you are in the way to create his version of how the World should work, the Father/Mother who treats you like crap because you arent the big Prodigy and lets everyone beat you up.
Can you think of any MC that doesnt just let this happen to him and actively pushes back(hopefully with success), hunts, or at least doesnt at all forgive the Person who thinks they had a great reason to Lie/Betray them ?

Luffy finally clashes with Kaidou! How will this match end? Let's find out! Credit goes to AP's Redon for the info:

-Chapter title is "Yonkou Kaidou vs. Luffy". Splash features Luffy and his brothers Ace and Sabo as kids.

-Kaidou is knocked to the ground by Luffy's strike from the previous chapter. The rubber man then takes this opportunity to check on his friends' safety at the castle, but on the way there, he encounters the headliner Speed.... who's been beaten up. She explains that Kaidou attacked her during her trip to Tama's house, which resulted in her failing in her mission to protect the girl. Luffy is regretful that he didn't escort the girl home himself....

-Law suggests they escape while Kaidou is still drunk, but Luffy refuses. He says that if he can take Kaidou down now, they can end this conflict immediately! Plus, they're still unaware of the state of their friends. He then calls out to Kaidou, announcing himself as the future Pirate King! The dragon then unleashes his Boro (heat) Breath on Luffy, which the rubber man dodges, but suddenly the emperor reverts back to his human form and passes out....

-Despite this, Luffy doesn't hold back. He goes into Gear 4 mode, and unleashes a relentless assault on the emperor! Soon, he becomes exhausted from the constant attacking, and it's at this point that Kaidou, now sober, rises to his feet. He brings out his weapon (a giant spiked club), and unleashes his counterattack on the rubber man, called Raimei Hakke (something like "thunder divination/augury"), which instantly takes down Luffy!!! As our hero gets knocked out, Kaidou mockingly asks him what sort of king he intends to become......!!!!!

Japanese Crime and Punishment

$

Hey, I just made this thread because I have serious concerns about the japanese law system, or rather laws regarding crime and punishment, if its anything like I've seen in japanese media. And from what I've seen, it seems japanese law is be far too lenient, especially when the criminals really DO NOT deserve leniency. it seems like the law does not really serve as a deterrent to criminals because they know even if they get caught, all they will get is a slap on the wrist. this especially seems to apply to delinquents or minors, who even if they commit the most heinous, vile crimes, the law will protect them because they are minors.
i had basically read up about one such crime that had taken place in modern japanese history, a couple of years before I was born. for the peace of mind of those who do not know about it, i will not name nor go into exact detail about the crime. But believe me, this crime was so horrible, so vile, so cruel, the NAZIS generally treated the jews better compared to what these monsters did to their victim. And I'm not trying to diminish the the horror and cruelty of the Holocaust. Its just what these monsters did was that atrocious.
Its an atrocious event that one wishes to live in ignorance about.
Its because of crap like this that i lose complete faith in humanity. Even if you are an atheist, you will wish that hell exists for such monsters who would commit an act of such brutality.
And the worst part? Because the monsters were all minors, their punishment was extremely lenient despite the depravity, the evilness of their crime. There are people here in the U.S who have been sentenced to much harsher punishments for far, far less. Hell if this crime had taken place in america, those monsters would have been lynched by a mob. And today, the monsters who committed that crime, they've all served their time and are out in society, most of them not even serving a decade in prison.
Is crap like this an extreme outlier in japanese society? Or those it happen more often than not? Is it just a culture difference between america and japan? Am i just an outsider looking in? Is Japan actually this really messed up place?

How to create an environment encouraging science fictions?

$
0
0
Excluding Japan, there is a distinctive lack of science fictions in East Asian and South East Asian literature, comics, films, animation, etc. in general, and more often than not original works called "science fictions" in these countries embody only the aesthetics and not the essential of the genre, that is, the analysis of technology and political/economical movements to the individuals and to societies.

That begs the questions: How did Japan do it? For example, as someone who are fond of East Asian novels, while I can not say that the sci fictions scene in Japan is comparable to the West, it is still doing better than its neighbors China and Korea. How exactly did science fictions get its jump-start in Japan? Could other East Asian countries do that?

I know that the original wave of Modernism and Futurism passed through Japan without making much meaningful impact, and it was the catalyst for the generation that would go on to define science fictions in the West. Was it because of the post-war period when Japan underwent rapid industrialization and urbanization? Or was it something else?
