Don't know a good way to title this. A thought occurred to me when reading Bitter Virgin: what would it be like for Hinako if she saw her former stepfather again, especially in a place where she couldn't get away from him, or couldn't without revealing her past.
There's plenty of characters who suffered some horrible trauma in the past, which left scars that may never heal. In many cases there's a single person or group who were the cause of the terrible experiences, and the character will often try to start over somewhere else, leaving their past behind. But sometimes the people responsible for that person's pain follow them, deliberately or coincidentally. Right as the person's finally managed to overcome and find happiness again, this person appears. If they do nothing, that person will terrorize them and bring back the past. If they resist, then their past will be revealed to everyone. Either way, all the wounds are reopened right when they'd almost healed.
One example of this sort of thing is Ookami-san. What are some others?
