Been a while since I posted here; this is another trope from Bitter Virgin. A person somehow finds out someone's deepest, darkest secret, the sort of thing they can never tell; the guy can't tell anyone he found out about this, not even the person in question.
For instance, in Bitter Virgin, Suwa Daisuke ends up impersonating a priest and hearing his classmate Aikawa Hinako tell about how in junior high her stepfather had abused her for a long time, leading to a pregnancy that ended in miscarriage and another that she had to carry to term and put up for adoption. This trauma left very deep scars, and she still has a severe androphobia. But this secret of her past is so traumatic, and to her so shameful, that she could not bear to ever let anyone know. Similarly, Daisuke can't let anyone know about it, and he knows it would crush what little Hinako has left if she knew that anyone, even him, knew that she'd been raped and even given birth before. So, for much of the story he struggles to try and help her while at the same time trying to help keep her secret without letting Hinako know that he knows.
I'm looking for similar scenarios in anime and manga, where a guy finds out some sort of dark, traumatic or shameful secret about someone, but finds himself in a position where he has to keep the secret and keep his knowledge secret from the person in question.
I'm also interested to know alternate scenarios that could lead to a guy finding out that sort of secret, something a person would never tell anyone save in a situation of total anonymity(such as a church confessional).
