The last few days my main disc is having problems with the black cable that goes from the disc to the motherboard.
I had cleaned a few days ago and the next day when I booted the disc could not be read, it wasn't broken but the cable was a little lose it seems.
I made sure all the cables were well put in and it works again.
This morning, while not having opened the case again afterward it happened again.
So opened the case again, made sure the cable was well inserted and now it works again.
If this starts happening every day then I feel like I should replace the cable, maybe the ending part that goes into the mobo is too lose now.
However, and although it sounds silly but I hardly do anything that involves hardware other than know specs, I would like to know the specific name of the product.
Would this cable also be called a SATA cable, or is that the power connector? Because my old drive has a red cable and this one which I want to replace is a black one which has a diferent connector probably.
drive in specific is from western digital, 1 tb.. it isn't the harddrive model that transfers super fast, just a normal one.
edit; found the drive on a site;
Western Digital WD10EADX (Bulk, SATA 600, Caviar Green)
Interface (intern) Serial ATA/600 <- is the cable I need to replace I guess
