Hidan no Aria probably has been one recent anime series which has struck me the most, particularly because it made me realize that "there are adaptations which should not have existed".
Initially, anime series for me in general is all about watching the series as an original media, independent of which ever form of media it was based from. Of those hundred-or-so series I've watched, there should be about 40% or more which are adaptations. And I never cared about the source, as long as I enjoy the anime series itself.
But Hidan no Aria made me cautious, especially since I'm expecting that the industry should be tightening its belts a bit after experiencing problem after problem. Instead of carefully choosing the next project and planning well for it, some undeserving work gets an anime adaptation (and even getting a second season in other cases) while a more decent series is left unadapted. [For some reason, I feel like the Producer guy from Oreimo Episode 08.]
I wonder if there are people who share the same sentiments as I am. Well, I'm pretty confident there are at least a handful who thinks Shingeki no Kyojin deserves an anime series than some other manga with not enough material for one season.
