Drawing anime - has simplicity gone too far?

I remember anime being referred to as "those cartoons with the big eyes and the triangular noses."

Now it seems that modern anime is being so simplified to not even have that. Triangular noses went to just being a small curved line on the face, to a dot on the face to girls bascailly haing no nose to speak of.

Characters being drawn off-model seems to be the norm now, as well as not having strands of hair anymore.

Angel Beats!
Toradora!
Ōkami-san
So Ra No Wo To
K-On (and any Key show)

Maybe I'm just watching the wrong shows, but anime character designs have become so basic that they're nearly unwatchable to me now.

I feel as if I'm looking at Greys with hair instead of what are supposed to represent human beings.

The "art" just appears ugly and sometimes downright hideous to me now.

Basically just waiting for the next Gundam show to come along now and watching nothing else but 90s and early 00's anime now (Burn Up).

Anyone else finding the latest batch of anime shows unattractive in the art department?
