Anyone ever had their ear's candled?

After my friend wrote a blog on our site about Japanese ear cleaning (shameless link), I got to thinking about ear candling. Has anyone tried it?

I read that it was a total con, and wikipedia seems to agree, but I've met people who swear by it.

It seems that it looks like a load of gunk comes out of you ears, when it actual fact it's produced by the candle itself.

God knows why I'm even thinking about this. Slow day at work.
